The Simmonds Brothers: Phill and Jeff
Stories have always been important to the Simmonds Brothers. In the mid 90's Jeff and Phill began to collaborate on simple web animation projects and contemplated world conquest. Jeff continued to experiment with film ideas, and Phill began to see his cute, big-nosed characters move using animation software. The logical progression was to make short films and the Simmonds Brothers hit upon the idea of documation - animating cartoon characters to unrehearsed, unscripted audio of people talking about their lives. The Simmonds Brothers also write and perform their own music for the films. http://www.simmondsbrothers.com
Firehorse Film Studio: Ant Sang
Bro Town…It’s cool, irreverent, subversive and funny and it has never been done before in New Zealand. TV3 proudly presents New Zealand’s first ever prime-time adult animated series – the unashamedly suburban, non-PC satire bro’Town. Produced by New Zealand company Firehorse Films and funded by New Zealand On Air, bro’ Town was made using three animation studios – two in New Zealand and one in India – and involved over 100 staff.
Each episode took up to six months to make and consists of 16,000 drawings, making it a huge undertaking for all involved. http://www.antsang.co.nz
